Numerical Investigation of the Aerofoil Aerodynamics with Surface Heating for Anti-Icing

The aerodynamics of an aerofoil with surface heating was numerically studied the objective to build effective anti-icing strategy and balance performance energy consumption. NACA0012, RAE2822 ONERA M6 aerofoils were adopted as test cases simulations performed in subsonic flight condition commercial passenger aircraft. In first session, numerical scheme firstly validated experimental data. A parametric study different temperatures areas carried out. lift drag coefficients both drop heating, especially at a larger angle attack. It found that separation point on upper is sensitive heating. Higher temperature or area pushes shock wave hence flow moving towards leading edge, which reduces low-pressure region decreases lift. second conclusions obtained are applied inform design for NACA0012. Further guidelines conditions proposed shed light optimisation strategy.
